This study connects pilgrimage with the contemporary theological dialogue about Christian practices, particularly relying on the work of Dorothy Bass. The research examines one congregation's exploration of pilgrimage. This project focuses on the implementation of missional principles in a particular congregation to shift its narrative of decline to a narrative of revitalization. The report explores Second Presbyterian Church's historical identity leading to its period of decline, identifies missional principles, and then traces the narrative of the implementation of those principles within the congregation. This has implications for the practice of the Christian faith.  In my ministry persons coming to me are struggling to re-contextualize their faith in these realities.  In this thesis I use the cosmology of Thomas Berry who links the three governing principles of the universe (differentiation, autopoiesis and communion) to the Trinity, then develop evolutionary and Trinitarian theology, applying it to my development of the integral program of Village Earth. When in reality the sharing is taking place in the everyday world amongst the chaos of a routine day.  What we think may be chaos is in reality engaging with the community to carry out the work of the Holy Spirit. The report explores the conversations of twelve parents with children ages two to eighteen.  Using observation and parents themselves as co-researchers to explore how they share and teach spirituality with their children. Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder in the experience of disasters, especially as they relate to loss of place, are studied. Identification with place and the loss of place in the Katrina disaster are examined, specifically at Grace Episcopal Church and the Mid-City neighborhood. As the fields of Oral Interpretation and Performance Studies show, the Bible is best heard when performed. Preachers who internalize texts speak from a personal encounter with the Word. The thesis studied how a weekly scripture by heart practice serves to focus the preacher's attention, engage the imagination, inform exegesis, and guide sermon preparation. This research was held in January 2009. During this phase the author wrote and mailed invitational letters to pastors and churches to participate in her research. Based upon the response and support she received from the invitational letter the end results yielded one leadership team which was represented during the entire research.  A workshop and seminar was held at a selected church within the county once a month. The author's personal interviews were designed to identify the various stages of the HIV/AIDS virus and to assess the family needs. The ends results yielded that, as persons progress with the HIV/AIDS virus, the greater the need and care is required by the family.
