Participants took a mission trip to visit a rural church school in Haiti and were then interviewed about their experience. Family systems theory and the theology of service and relationships informed the project and the interpretation of the outcomes. New, lasting interpersonal bonds among the travelers were evident, as were strengthened ties to the sister institutions. To accomplish this great task, churches require spiritual leaders who have such a burden, adequate training, and ability to lead them. This is the reason for the existence of theological education, and in order to train those leaders, seminaries need a new set of curriculums; Chinese seminaries in Myanmar are no exception. Success or failure of theological education is closely related to its curriculum. Therefore, this paper attempts to develop new curriculums for Chinese seminaries in Myanmar, according to the biblical purposes of theological education, the needs of the local churches, the local social conditions, and the requirements of the theological association."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Logos Evangelical Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["54e7729a-4915-469f-8fd5-c7bb7ccd6c20"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134693843795968,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:39:14.743Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:28:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:21:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cdd0bd65-63f2-477c-b562-6af2f617f3ac","accessControl_ssim":["85815643-9398-4a1d-a699-a92b9913fca9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Being big and being missional: understanding the key organizational factors that cultivate a missional culture in large churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:28:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:02:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c29bee1e-8ba2-4591-b5a3-55f8f53a5550"],"hasLease_ssim":["8f71caa5-a57f-4008-be1d-90e9c573788d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Biblical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Todd Mangum"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kirk Edward Belmont"],"publisher_tesim":["Biblical Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Mission of the church","Big churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["There are some authors in the missional conversation who contend a church cannot be big and be missional. There are, however, others who assert that missional is a way of being the church and thus size is not the determining factor. Instead, they argue that organizational practices in conjunction with Spirit-directed leadership are the key factors that foster a missional culture. This hypothesis has not been verified in large churches. Therefore, the purpose of this project was to research the relevant literature and conduct qualitative research at four large self-described missional churches to determine what cultivates a missional culture in large churches. Cross-case analysis of the research data indicated that alignment of organizational practices with a biblical theology and the work of the Spirit are the key factors. This study provides both a foundation upon which others can build and assistance to large churches that endeavour to become missional."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129831746830336,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:21:57.886Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:28:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:42:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"09faf178-e16a-4359-bae9-cd3263d467ae","accessControl_ssim":["2d9a310f-fe80-475f-ac9d-920f84f94717"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An uncompleted circle: the adaptive challenge of ministry review"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:28:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:23:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["71ce7418-b1ff-4054-9f5a-5a0c15a238cd"],"hasLease_ssim":["ed5514af-50bb-4fe3-8137-bc72c79505b1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia"],"advisor_tesim":["Margaret Ann Faeth"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael J Ciba"],"keyword_tesim":["Clergy--Performance standards"],"publisher_tesim":["Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Heifetz, Ronald A (Ronald Abadian), 1951-","United Church of Christ--Government"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis explores how a middle judicatory can be more effective in helping churches facing adaptive challenges. The author demonstrates how musicality in homiletical composition and performance expands the cognitive-communicative 'bandwidth' of the preaching event, profoundly affecting a sermon's portability, memorability, and emotional power among listeners. He explores what recent research in the interdisciplinary field of music cognition reveals about how and why musicality has these effects in oral communication.
