The research question is to determine the extent to which students who took the 'minister's spiritual life' course increased in spiritual maturity. Two instruments were developed to measure this: a qualitative focus group study and a quantitative survey. These examined whether the course: enabled them to recognize their hindrances, assisted in overcoming them, helped develop a plan to mature spiritually, and motivated them to implement their plan. This project focused on a congregation in transition. The author explored the use of resources from the 'missional church' conversation. Attention was paid to the role that renewal of baptismal identity and worship play in helping a congregation transition toward missional identity. Traditional didactic classroom instruction is not always sufficient, because it does not provide an opportunity for elders to apply what they have learned. To compensate for this lack of experiential learning, role-play was incorporated into elder training in a particular congregation, resulting in the conclusion that role-play is a useful training tool in certain situations. This study describes the reactions of Christian students from Trinity University to the faith and practice of those whom they meet while studying abroad. After reviewing an alternative model of Christian missionary, the critical distinction between missions and missio Dei, and cross-cultural diffusion of Christianity, themes drawn from interviews with students are presented, as well as student perceptions of the impact of studying abroad on their faith. This report proposes a composite educational methodology using Vygotskyan and Jungian human development theory can provide education care that nurtures senior adult formational maturity in relation to death, dying and bereavement issues. Worship is one aspect of congregational life where the values of Western secular culture are deeply embedded; changing the expectations surrounding worship may be pivotal for the deeper transformation of congregational culture from an inward, institution-maintaining focus to an outward, missional orientation. This project is a case study of one congregation where such transformation is already underway.
