Their parents seem unaware of this fact, possibly because they share this quality. This study seeks to discover ways to initiate steps for intentional spiritual formation for families in small churches. By conducting a qualitative study of the self-reported beliefs and behavior concerning personal responsibility for child spiritual formation among specific parents in his church and in six additional churches, the author discovered a disconnect between their behavior and beliefs. To that effect a triangulation or integration of both quantitative and qualitative research methods were applied to this study as best research methods during collection and analysis of data. Therefore, the archival research, questionnaires responses from 55 missionaries in Ethiopia, the literature reviews of scholars and interviews of respective people were intensively conducted as part of data collection. How well that transition takes place depends on the preparation for it. This dissertation project argues that there are attitudes and perspectives about church leadership that if they are in place and being lived out will make a leadership transition in a local church as seamless as possible. How will the Church respond? One way is to create multiracial churches by merging monoracial congregations. Through literature research, surveys and interviews, the merits, challenges and opportunities of this ministry approach are examined. Merits include encountering God via different perspectives, and experiencing God's heart for the world through intercultural relationships. Challenges such as the tendency to associate with those like oneself, racial differences, and conflict resolution occur.
