Material used by parents to teach biblical truths and spiritual disciplines to their children was researched and used to create materials for the parents.  The group of parents received workshop materials, sample curriculum to be taught at home, and instructions on how to develop spiritual disciplines. The training materials were introduced in a workshop format spanning the course of several weeks. Through interviews of congregational leaders and randomly selected members, the researcher assessed the pre-decision knowledge and attitude of the members concerning the topic. A presentation on the topic was then prepared and presented to the congregation. Following the decision, those members involved were questioned as to what factors contributed to their decision. The first session contained the biblical and theological rationale for goal setting and planning.  Sessions two and three explored definitions, key principles, and processes of goal setting.  Session four examined planning programs and events from stated goals.  Session five included an explanation of the purpose statement of Woodridge Baptist Church from the pastor and participants who write actual goals for their ministry area. Part of the analysis is based on a personal journal kept by the author over a period of 35 weeks.  Other analysis is based upon data collected from 48 randomly chosen students at Bible Teachers Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  They were asked to complete a two-part survey on their practice and perception of fasting.
