Indeed, the Missio Dei is operating in the church. The author studies the impact of the A.D. 2000 Movement's Adopt-a-People programme and diagnoses the need for unity. She contends that historically, theologically and biblically, the entire church is to be one in mission. He then argues that the congregation's entering into a long-term strategic partnership with local African-American congregations was a practical response consistent with the theology. This study was undertaken as an exercise in practical theology, and a 'mutual critical conversation' model was employed.  The initial stage of the conversation was a historical, biblical, and theological investigation of the Sabbath.  The second stage of the conversation related the thematic elements of the Sabbath to leadership principles. A survey of forty-four questions was designed, tested and administered to study and evaluate the impact of spiritual formation would have on women who engage in the process that leads to character development. Moreover, this shows that the development of 'fruit of the spirit' together with practicing the spiritual disciplines is essential in the process of developing Christ-like character. If a church-based women's Bible study program aims to grow strategically, numerically and in biblical depth, it must consider the best way to solve this problem. This thesis-project argues that the alternative to training successful lecturers is to turn to video lecturers who cannot as effectively shepherd the flock, be as accessible as role-models of Christ-like character nor be available to answer questions, both of a biblical and personal nature.
