State College, the setting, where this project took place, was introduced in the first chapter of this project. I examined the biblical basis for discipleship training. The writer looked at the historical background of discipleship training and followed the works of various campus ministry groups in Korea. This ministry project analyzed the discipleship-training materials that are currently in use by churches in Korea and Korean churches in the States. With this analysis, results from the pre-survey, and the help of the Curriculum Advisory Committee, the writer created new curriculum and ran it through with the congregation via post survey. In summary, it has been determined that the curriculums created by the campus ministry groups and used by Korean churches in the States cannot be used effectively. According to survey results from the Penn State Korean Church, the new curriculum is better than the curriculum developed by the Discipleship Ministry International and used in Korean churches in the States."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127906120892416,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:51:21.466Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:44:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:54:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"480c2dda-8326-49f6-bcff-a9f11e030d34","accessControl_ssim":["56ff36db-aaef-40d9-a3b5-ac2f320422ba"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Darkness approaching blessing: clergy dating within congregational setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:44:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:14:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b8d61038-4c34-48a3-85ba-0e71ffb0aa5a"],"hasLease_ssim":["ff32359f-bdc1-4e45-bcf2-7decde2e2920"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Skip Johnson"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joan C Martin"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy","Clergy--Sexual behavior","Laity","Dating (Social customs)--Religious aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project, through individual interviews, published resources, and personal research, strives to provide guidelines for clergy on how to incorporate and preserve a romantic, non-married relationship within a congregational setting. A long-term preaching plan, if properly understood and implemented, could benefit a pastor greatly. This long-term preaching plan has been developed and introduced for use at the Church of the Open Bible in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania. Twenty-seven sermons were crafted using a long-term sermon process that was learned and developed under the tutelage of John Reed at Dallas Theological Seminary. A descriptive survey assists in the evaluation process. The same survey was handed out in a pre-test and post-test format to measure the spiritual growth of the congregation in the following areas: comprehension -- knowledge; convictions -- biblical beliefs, attitudes, and values; and conduct -- behavior. The long-term planning process helps the pastor in sermon preparation and assists in the spiritual formation of the local church. The result was that through the process, as it was lived out in each of the churches, the churches saw an improvement in their statistics and increased the creative conversations from which they plan their ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718664139702272,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:37:46.747Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:43:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:40:09Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c187ab03-d4ba-441e-bdc3-d83214a013a0","accessControl_ssim":["e4c5fd53-7b51-4dd4-91ed-ee9d07c112f6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["From strength to strength: laying the groundwork for future excellence at First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs, Arkansas"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:43:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:41:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["189b17c3-d930-4664-ac00-bbecfa351e1e"],"hasLease_ssim":["138e1bbc-6db6-4da9-9b0e-9133215d6e74"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["William J Abraham"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William O Reeves"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Collins, James C (James Charles), 1958-","First United Methodist Church (Hot Springs, Ark)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["From Strength to Strength: Laying the Groundwork for Future Excellence at First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs, Arkansas is a Doctor of Ministry practicum/project detailing the leadership strategies undertaken in the first year of a new pastorate.
