Through lecture and discussion, the project examined churches' views of Scripture and, moreover, whether they uphold the Bible as the only source of authority in the Christian life and Church.  Classes clarified understanding and deepened the participants' appreciation of sacred tradition while guiding them in discernment of the Church's call and purpose. This project contends that Christian blessings can be given in a traditional Hawaiian form that would enable believers to connect with unchurched friends and neighbors and thereby proclaim the blessing that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was found that in the experience of the volunteers, giving blessing opens up deeper discussions with coworkers, friends and neighbors and that such discussions can and do lead to sharing the good news of God's blessing. Specifically, this research sought to confirm the hypothesis that the essential principles of visual communication--rhythm, contrast, balance, proportion and unity--are applicable to verbal communication as well.  The research first surveys relevant literature in fields of visual and verbal communication and then noted the principles within the biblical text.  From this review, an evaluation instrument was designed.  Then, three preachers were selected and their sermons transcribed and evaluated according to a validation grid.
