In turn, her family led a movement that helped others live more virtuous lives. This project surveys the roles of women in early Methodist movement and examines the letters of Susanna Wesley for her interpretation and practices of virtue.  The research concludes that intentionality is a key component in virtue development in any time or place. The author first lays the theological, homiletic, and hermeneutical groundwork and then applies the theory to the development of a faith-sharing resource.  A survey was conducted primarily to test whether a critical and contextual biblical hermeneutical process would improve the quality of the group's homiletic experience--especially a greater forging of Christian praxis. He also wanted to determine if a focused study of one theological school of thought, process theology, could be a catalyst for leadership development.  Following the seven-month program, two members of the project team offered ministries of their own.  The group's focus on process theology, though having little effect on the members' theological positions, did have a positive effect of increasing their attentiveness to the nuances of theological understandings. Cultural change, if not initiated or fed by a crisis, is very difficult. It is aggressive and diverse and requires an entrepreneurial initiative, which not every pastor has. Special characteristics, qualities, traits and skills are required in order for these pastors to succeed. Just what those characteristics or qualities are is the subject of this study. To identify them, the methods or instruments of research used were a written questionnaire and an oral interview. The focus was upon five Brazilian American pastors who are successfully engaged in new church development in several different states. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and the results reveal a burgeoning vocational imagination with participants displaying a personal relationship with God, a growing engagement of participation in God's purpose for the world, a willingness to engage actively in vocational discernment, an ability to connect understandings of self with life commitments of vocation, and a passion to meet the needs of others. Material resources are less important than one might believe. Have a plan for both developing leaders and involving them as soon as possible. A church planter needs to be sure of calling. Problems with the mother/partner church can impact the plant significantly. Healthy core group is essential.Spousal support is a must. This project focuses on a small group of eight people in a congregation of one hundred members. The project consists of an eight-week class on hospitality with Bible study, a worship service celebrating hospitality, and data collected from oral, journal and questionnaire feedback. The research discloses that an already existing avenue for practicing hospitality when reframed as a spiritual practice changed people's attitude and behavior toward others, and drew them closer to God.
