In this study the authors surveyed pastors who are looking to hire associate staff, seeking to ascertain their level of understanding and preparedness for the task at hand.  The research revealed that most churches and their pastors have not agreed on a process for hiring associate pastors.  The author concludes that it is the senior pastor who should lead the search for kindred spirit team members. The project involved interviewing twenty people.  Fourteen interviews of de-churched or previously de-churched people were done by the author.  A focus group of six then met to be interviewed and to help with a sermon series.  The author found that de-churched people are like others who are longing for preaching that is relevant and relates the Bible to life. The hypothesis was that through training, education and Christian principles, the members of Corinthian can  develop their families, financial empowerment.  This project consisted of a series of financial seminars.  The research design was pretest and posttest, using ten identical questions on each test. A threefold method, of personal interviews coupled with a survey, a time-line exercise, and interviews coupled with questionnaires, was used.  Printed church literature was consulted too. Six presentations and small-group seminars were utilized studying biblical, theological, and denominational sources.  The project was evaluated for inreased individual awareness of church mission, group evaluation purpose, and group program planning to support mission.  This report's conclusios indicate that objectives for a large number of participants were not met. Several congregational issues exist concerning end of life in the African American community. The 'shadows' are defined as baptized children who attended Sunday School, were confirmed, or participated in youth programs, yet who became inactive in church life. The author pretested, interviewed 'shadows' from four generations, who listened to three sermons on tape designed specifically for them. A post test was given to measure any change.
