The self-disclosure is that of first-person stories. Undergraduate Bible College student ministers often turn to their own lives as a source for sermon illustrations. Sometimes their self-disclosure lacks discretion. By paying attention to the self-disclosure critque form, student ministers can accelerate their maturity in disclosing with discretion in their use of first-person stories. The vulnerability in self-disclosure may be more of a quality of life than a homiletical strategy, but mature preachers will find ways to talk about themselves so that God is heard."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Denver Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7af129f-938f-4821-9463-dc6ded35d563"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133361357455360,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:03.985Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:51:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:28:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c6c2a11f-d28e-4047-969f-eb6a8e4fe235","accessControl_ssim":["34d9ca81-d29e-4462-bcd5-43ce62870fca"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The theology and practice of community in the local church: building the church's 'socio-spiritual capital' by practicing the 'one-anothers' of the New Testament"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:51:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:50:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b2d0ade1-3163-4cbb-ab3d-2c281a4b0b24"],"hasLease_ssim":["3580a3d4-cce7-45f9-a783-fae661063d68"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Denver Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bruce L Shelley"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Donald L Pahl"],"publisher_tesim":["Denver Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christian communities","Bible","Theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research sought to examine and nurture Christian community. Hewitt and Flett's theory (1991a, 98-101) provided the foundation for this group intervention, which included eight participants. The project sought to reduce perfectionism by identifying multiple cognitive behavioral strategies to address spiritual, cognitive, behavioral, and relational elements of perfectionism, as measured by the Multiple Perfectionism Scale (Hewitt and Flett, 1991b, 456-470) via a pretest and posttest methodology. The observable means for all elements of perfectionism tested (Self-oriented, Other-oriented, Socially-prescribed) were in the expected direction, but only in Self-Oriented Perfectionism was statistically significant reduction observed."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Denver Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7af129f-938f-4821-9463-dc6ded35d563"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133419944542208,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:59.858Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:51:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:32:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fe20dd71-20e3-4a7a-8a1d-5397182ac99c","accessControl_ssim":["9041e5db-ad7e-453d-a4bc-8545ad4ca7fb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Measuring the impact of a mentoring relationship program between first class cadets and cadet candidates to increase the participants' appreciation of the benefits of mentoring relationships"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:51:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:23:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["543cd105-ee9b-44a8-bd3f-135dfa352bfc"],"hasLease_ssim":["da09e546-9435-4a50-b4ea-4fcfc629c806"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Denver Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Janet McCormack"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Cherri S Wheeler"],"publisher_tesim":["Denver Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["United States Air Force Academy","Mentoring"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project taught first class cadets and cadet candidates at the United States Air Force Academy how to participate in a facilitated mentoring relationship.
