A primary premise of this research is that ethnic churches -- in this particular case, Brazilian churches -- have the potential of greatly helping immigrants to adapt to their new environment and to counteract the stress of the immigration experience, assimilation and adaptation (introduction and chapter one). This work was developed following a systemic approach and guided by three nurturing questions that originated from Eldin Villafañe's 'hermeneutical circle of social ethics' (clarification, conceptualization and confrontation). Pastoral actions and reflections on dealing with the issues related to this study emerged from our understanding of systematic theology and the investigation of other pertinent sources (chapters two and three). The goal of the learning team and the exercise called 'hexagon process' was to look at how these Brazilian churches can develop ministries that will create positive and lasting results, and the possible scenarios where the ethnic churches can intervene (chapter four). Outcome and further researches were suggested with the intent of broadening the understanding in the field of ethnic churches and how to help post first generation immigrants (chapter five)."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130919833174016,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:39:15.565Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:30:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:00:30Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6ccd4cb3-f503-4bf3-818a-96e2b1b89d30","accessControl_ssim":["38aeb7e1-b320-438e-9f04-248f0301e634"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Evangelism: rediscovering a forgotten command"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:30:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:19:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["31e02b3d-fcfe-4c95-bf39-d45a71317c87"],"hasLease_ssim":["9406e8f1-c602-4b81-9fef-a5d9ec053f53"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stephen Hayner"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"location_tesim":["Latin America"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Everaldo S Rego"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research project focused its attention on the evangelistic ministry of five newly formed Brazilian-American congregations in Greater Atlanta that have been doing a dynamic work in reaching others for Christ. The kingdom offers an alternative paradigm in contrast to established evangelical forms grounded in human wisdom and understanding. Through biblical paradigms and statistical research, the author describes the condition of early 21st-century American Christianity. Through the use of systems thinking and cultural diagnosis he defines what he terms the 'seven deadly D's' of American church life. The kingdom of God is presented as the only theological systemic approach to remedy these maladies. This work is unique in its pastoral perspective, narrative style, and cognitive processing. Understanding the kingdom and learning to live and lead within a kingdom framework will equip many evangelical pastors, leaders, and laypeople to progress from personal burnout toward a more hopeful position. The significance of this work is in recovering the kingdom of God as the necessary biblical corrective to modern evangelical leadership formation and church practice. This includes implications for the rethinking of evangelicalism, a new approach to theology, and the formation of multidimensional leadership. This will assist 21st-century Christian leaders in dealing with complexity, diversity, changing spiritual paradigms, and interdenominational unity. It offers hope as new fuel and a kingdom model as a cognitive construct as well as recommendations for application."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129752786960384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:20:42.584Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:29:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:21:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"04b3390e-7d0f-4770-8074-7e3721a32b62","accessControl_ssim":["f60fd8b4-8ca0-4e38-b82b-b07acbf543a3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Program evaluation of the course 'Discipleship for leadership' at Coppell Bible Fellowship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:29:51Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:15:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b01f563c-cb2a-4880-ad9d-05eed3f5b92a"],"hasLease_ssim":["58a378b6-e3c3-4615-8011-70398d4be62f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Barkef Krikor Osigian"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Ewing, Bruce A","Lay Church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis of this dissertation is that the leadership course Discipleship for Leadership developed by Bruce Ewing at Fellowship Bible Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an effective tool in helping the pastoral staff of Coppell Bible Fellowship to develop and train lay leaders to be effective biblical servant leaders. Participants found they received encouragement in general ministry and helpful evaluation of their preaching."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132995601563648,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:12:15.173Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:29:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:14:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c4cc0166-44ec-48ef-9aa6-e9a6c2a8b542","accessControl_ssim":["9103b065-f7a5-44c4-873b-367df88a9bf6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Collaborative preaching: a young adult homiletic of hospitality"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:29:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:47:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a63ac946-aa1c-496a-bdb6-837f4e526718"],"hasLease_ssim":["a028cc72-28f5-4775-9c1f-6ecdc46ae28f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Rodger Nishioka"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas F Rice"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Preaching, Reformed","Church work with young adults"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores how a collaborative model of sermon preparation and feedback connects the pulpit to the issues of young adults at First Presbyterian Church.
