The church's primary mission is carrying out the task of fulfilling the Great Commission, and the New Testament concept of discipleship is the primary focus of the church's ministry. The New Testament concept of discipleship is imitating Christ to become like Him in love, obedience, and good work; thus, the goal of the church's overall ministry is the believer's Christian maturity to the fullness of Christ. Committing one's life to Jesus Christ and faithfully following Him, and leading others to be His disciples is true Christian ministry: as practiced by women to women, this is true women's ministry. Women following Jesus Christ and becoming disciple-makers in a theology for effective ministry to women. But Jesus did not stop with servant leadership. He took his leadership with the disciples to the next level when he stated, 'I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from the Father I have made known to you (John 15:15). This thesis develops the idea that leadership modeled after the ministry of Jesus, which includes the ingredient of deep friendship, is more effective than leadership that does not include friendship. In developing this idea, this thesis examines the reasons leaders have often avoided friendship and how doing this has compromised their effectiveness. It presents research from over one hundred surveys, showing how friendship has been central in the development of leaders (both clergy and laity alike). It also examines historical and contemporary writings on friendship to support this idea. This thesis shows that intentional friendship results in increased effectiveness and is essential for a leader who strives to follow Christ."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130881352531968,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:38.868Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:21:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:51:22Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"933e39d8-652d-4f0c-832b-81d761cbcc2a","accessControl_ssim":["c488f36e-da54-45c4-9951-da42ca27e750"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Mars Hill ministry: understanding and using culture to impact the emerging generations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:21:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:26:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5397ee06-32a8-48ab-89a7-3a1fde7148c1"],"hasLease_ssim":["5b3e5279-b842-48fd-92cf-be80ee7d4442"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gary Parrett"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Walter Mueller"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work--Biblical teaching","Christianity and culture","Bible. It is concerned with questions related to the emergence of the postmodern worldview, the impact of the postmodern worldview on the emerging generations, and the development of a biblically based missiological paradigm for understanding, engaging, and reaching a culture shaped by this worldview. The study examines the mission field of the emerging generations, their postmodern worldview, and how that worldview shapes their lives. The study continues with an examination of culture along with a biblical theology of understanding and engaging culture. The study lays out a biblical paradigm for engaging the postmodern generations that is based on the Apostle Paul's engagement with the pagan Athenian culture in Acts 17. A series of appendices enlists the paradigm in practical examples of engagement with several contemporary icons in the world of today's popular music."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131684580622336,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:51:24.886Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:21:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:02:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ca0321da-6ec9-4af4-bfd7-b0dea1449cfa","accessControl_ssim":["220bdaf0-66f5-4892-bacc-0353d727cccf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Evaluating leadership development curriculum based on learning context feedback"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:21:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:56:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cdf38090-a8eb-4b35-9c0f-3f5db1202b3f"],"hasLease_ssim":["2f09ff0f-d130-4861-a8da-62b9315573c2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven W Klipowicz"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Education--Curricula","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis is a qualitative, evaluative and formative study of the Arrow Leadership Program utilizing identified Christian formation learning objectives from 143 learning contracts prepared by program participants over five years. The thesis is an attempt to be a resource for hands on training to make this preaching a lifelong task. The thesis begins with chapter one outlining the need for Christ-centered or Gospel preaching. Chapter two supplies the theological basis for Christ-centered preaching. Chapter four sets out the homiletics course focussed on a '5C Gospel grid': clarity of the whole, coherence of the parts, correspondence of salvation themes, centering on Christ and challenging with Christ. The course is based on the sermons in Acts as a pattern of Christ-centered preaching. The final chapter summarizes what the author learnt through this study."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131761502060544,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:38.244Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13089,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
