The project director developed an equipping model based on specialized research on the challenges facing busy mothers in today's society.  The project's topics included the practice of devotions, the perspectives of self, the priorities of life, and the purpose of life.  The project director wrote twenty-eight devotions that served as daily homework. Each devotion was accompanied by a daily scripture card with the project director's original artwork. This project begins by exploring the theological reasoning behind this endeavor and the conflict it has brought to Christian communities that worship together, examining the definition of worship and investigating if contemporary worship is really worship or if it is an evangelism event outside the category of worship.  The process of collecting data for this study was trough the case study model using information from interviews of pastors and members of various worshiping communities, examining the implementation of contemporary service 'starts.'  The study includes those services that are successful and those that have not been. Churches that exclusively use a contemporary service format and churches that have added contemporary services to the worship offerings of an existing service schedule are included in the project.  Each of these service types is examined independently since there are often considerable differences between these initiating congregations. First, the director sought to inform the church concerning its biblical responsibility to the bereaved.  Second, to motivate church members to commit to become involved in hands-on ministry to the bereaved after the funeral.  Third, the director developed sermons that helped grieving people to be comforted and facilitated them in their healing process.  This facilitation was accomplished by better understanding of the hope and comfort given in the Scriptures. This study was a qualitative study which gathered information through the use of interviews. The literature was divided regarding the matter of pastoral leadership. Some literature advocated strong leadership and other literature argued for shared leadership between the pastor and church officers. The deacons, then, engaged in leading a group of new members through a three-hour new member assimilation course. The deacons developed a greater understanding and awareness of the need for new member assimilation. The nature of God's communication is understood as personal and relational.  From a narrative theological base, imagination is the primary tool used to understand the Bible in general and the dream passages specifically.  There is a consideration of the influence dreams have had historically.  A pro-active research method is employed during two group meetings, where the participants are instructed to pray daily for each other and to keep a dream journal. Contemporary German and American authors in church growth were critiqued for their theological integrity and applied to the charge's context.  The congregations were able to show increased vitality as measured by church attendance, offerings, leadership, and program.
