It was assumed that it would. Materials were prepared and circulated to members of the congregation. Prior to distribution of the materials, and again afterwards, participants were asked to respond to a questionnaire in which they reported their practice of individual or household devotions. The difference in responses were then used to measure changes in attitude. The primary methods of assessment were quantitative surveys. The data gathered was analyzed based on nine different facets of spiritual maturity. This study found there is a positive correlation between ministry involvement and spiritual maturity.  The facet of spiritual maturity that most positively associates with ministry participation is involvement in a small group community. By examining the biographies, times, congregations, literature, message and sermon methods of these five preachers whose ministries span a 70-year period, we may be able to extract techniques that can be useful for contemporary preachers to be more relevant communicators of the Word of God.  The project begins with biblical foundations for preaching and moves to the specific times in which these five preachers spoke to their congregations, communities and society. The thesis begins with an analysis of the need for new missionaries in the C\u0026MA while also showing how the denomination has addressed the issue. The second and third chapters provide a biblical-theological framework of missions and missionary recruitment along with a broad understanding of millennials and their postmodern context. Finally, a strategy for recruiting missionaries from among the millennials in the US Christian \u0026 Missionary Alliance is offered, providing helpful suggestions for local congregations to implement, as well as steps of action for the C\u0026MA to take at the national and district levels. Twenty participants were evaluated by pre-tests, post-tests, follow-up tests, and my personal interviews. The research examines the difference between accommodation and adaptation, analyzes the extent to which the preacher proclaims the word of God and/or persuades the congregation to respond to the word, and explores the rhetorical strategies of identification and argumentation. The project describes interviews with ten preachers to identify ways they prepare and deliver the sermon in multiple settings from the same text. The object of the project was to meet the course objectives being achieved in face-to-face instruction. The course was taught in the fall of 2001. Student achievement of the objectives was measured through course assignments, as well as a pre- and post-test of student confidence and competence for youth ministry. Students in the online version of the course achieved the course objectives but exhibited a higher non-completion rate. It is the answer to the question, 'Where are we headed as a church?'  The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry project is to learn and apply the skills necessary to impart vision to the church through proclamation.  The setting for this thirteen-week project will be Northwest Arkansas Family Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, where the project leader serves as founding pastor.  During this time, the project leader will conduct an assessment of the congregation's understanding of the church's mission and purpose.  This assessment will be followed by a series of sermons that outline the purpose, mission, and direction of the church.  A corresponding small group Bible study curriculum will be developed which will allow members to dialogue regarding that particular week's sermon.
