This study also looks at the resulting effects that these changes have had on the community of faith at the First Baptist Church of Everett. In the first chapter a brief history is given for the development of the First Baptist Church of Everett and the community of Everett, Massachusetts. As this history documents, profound ethnic transmigration patterns emerge where the children of the long-time residents of Everett move to suburban locales while at the same time differing ethnic groups begin to take up residence in Everett in greater numbers. In chapter two the theological paradigms of Place, Peace and Prayer are discovered rooted in the analysis of the book of Nehemiah. These theological paradigms are then operationalized in the context of the First Baptist Church of Everett interacting with the community now in Everett. Chapter three is a literature review of the precedent literature that looks at the issues of cross-cultural ministry, church growth analysis, sociological research and leadership development. Chapter four analyzes the church systems that previously had operated in the First Baptist Church of Everett. The present system in place at the church is also analyzed with the addition of the challenges facing the congregation as they grapple with the change brought about by the demographic shifting of the community. Additionally, key leverage points are identified in the church system that are utilized to counterbalance the issues of leadership and philosophical disconnect between the church and the community. Chapter five details the implementation process of the two key variables to the church system and the resulting outcomes of these interventions for the recontextualization of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132235593678848,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:00:10.373Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:03:01Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8dd93013-4031-4c5f-8328-81deaf6ab0d9","accessControl_ssim":["7adb972c-eed3-41be-b582-698d39b265b8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing an assimilation strategy for new members of Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, Tennessee"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:03:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:17:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8df29a00-ef59-4c1d-87d9-b4cb9a9aa7da"],"hasLease_ssim":["71dde055-5206-405c-b562-ed14a436cf53"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles E Lawless"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joseph S Sorah"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Assimilation (Sociology)","Tennessee","Church history","Church membership"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project describes the development of an assimilation strategy at Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, Tennessee. The paper notes the pilgrims' affirmation of growth through an experience compatible with early practice and the Reformed tradition."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128130730065920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:54:55.670Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:02:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:01:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"684215bd-8487-46f1-8390-8824e0556e61","accessControl_ssim":["2ad6eec3-6e40-49ea-bc63-2f63dc53661f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preventing missionary attrition through spiritual formation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:02:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:11:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["89e8d38c-a6f5-4274-8f9c-6f926081ba15"],"hasLease_ssim":["97a388aa-0ed3-46d9-87da-9f14254f7d8d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John Mark Terry"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jaein Chong"],"keyword_tesim":["Missionaries--Attrition"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Missionaries--Religious life","Spiritual formation"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation examines the statistics and causes of missionary attrition in North America and predominantly oversees. Chapter 1 explains the causes of missionary attrition and proposes the resolutions through spiritual formation. Chapter 2 defines and describes the historical origin of spiritual formation beginning with the period of the Desert fathers and continuing through the modern day work of Richard J. Foster who have contributed to the understanding of the formation of spirituality and may continue to contribute in preventing missionary attrition. Chapter 3 examines missionaries' spiritual, psychological and physical statuses as well as different missionary generations that are distinct either in contribution to missions or to missionary attrition. Surveys have been conducted throughout seminaries and missions organizations in an effort to prevent and resolve issues of missionary attrition. Chapter 4 addresses issues of missionary attrition through spiritual formation in praxis during seminary and missions training tenure. A suggestion is made for spiritual formation curriculum in the seminaries as a preventive measure against future attrition."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128566928244736,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:01:51.660Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:02:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:19:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fa318219-bfa8-41a5-9402-389ac4e3891a","accessControl_ssim":["91bc878b-f2f5-4763-b928-a5f4a22e63fe"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using biblical preaching to assist new Christians at Crowfield Baptist Church, Goose Creek, South Carolina, to mature as disciples of Jesus Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:02:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:16:38Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b33fd24a-1c24-43aa-b062-933c473026e0"],"hasLease_ssim":["afe2d571-5b6e-49be-a97c-4b562459da25"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Daniel L Akin"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Milton David Coleman"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Expository preaching","Crowfield Baptist Church (Goose Greek, SC)","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposed that biblical preaching can be used effectively to assist new believers to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. To test this thesis, a series of twelve biblical sermons on discipleship was preached at Crowfield Baptist Church, Goose Creek, South Carolina. A focus group of 16 persons was administered a pretest and posttest to determine the effectiveness of the preaching series in increasing listeners' knowledge of biblical teachings on discipleship, and upon their personal state of discipleship. Improvements in discipleship knowledge and commitment was documented in various subgroups within the focus group and in the group overall."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129696092553216,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:19:48.516Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:02:31Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:49:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0d19bb76-c42e-41c7-a6e4-6a5e55675052","accessControl_ssim":["39b61155-c7ac-48d9-9592-e92427ead8f0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using expository preaching to equip the members of the Frist Baptist Church of Archdale, North Carolina to practice a biblical prayer life"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:02:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:29:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ddf880fa-76e8-4bf8-824b-234850e99ead"],"hasLease_ssim":["c68f219e-f690-4a42-b704-e1b7bd235651"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark A Howell"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William B Huneycutt"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Spiritual life--Christianity","Baptists","Prayer--Biblical teaching","First Baptist Church (Archdale, NC)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project revelas the process of equipping the First Baptist Church of Archdale to practive a consistent biblical prayer life.
