Students reported a high level of satisfaction with the project, while revealing difficulty in time management, finances, communication, personal habits, devotional life and child rearing. The workshop tested for and taught about spiritual gifts and personality type.  It proved to be beneficial for participants seeking to know how best to serve Christ in the context of the local church. The changes include movement away from an agriculturally based rural community, changes in local businesses, and shifts in land use.  The impact includes shifts in church programs and demographics.  The process is a small discussion group from the membership of the churches, with interviews of key community members. Conclusions: the community has a generally positive worldview; the churches influence that worldview. The multi-sensory sermon-event is born out of Christ's mandate to preach to all nations and our call to love the Lord with our whole self.  It gives equal consideration to context and text, content and presentation.  After considering the current cultural climate and effective appropriation techniques, a preaching model incorporating multi-sensory words, imagery, and acts was developed. The author chose four case studies of pastors and churches in the Presbyterian Church USA who are the 'Joshua' following the 'Moses' of their churches. The long pastorates range from twenty-one to forty- five years. The churches are thriving in increases of worship attendance, membership, budget and staff. The postmodern world is not an epoch but rather a set of understandings and sensibilities that fill the cracks in a modern world view.  The author used an upper middle congregation as the testing ground for the thesis. This thesis will consider a way of preaching, inclusive to all people, avoiding a metaphorical language, and not jumping to conclusions on sickness and handicap being the will of God. This study examines how understanding their identity as a communion of saints will transform and revitalize their ministry and mission together. Many small LCMS churches are not growing in a variety of areas.  The author researched helping churches by visiting eleven churches and giving them suggestions.  He then revisited the churches three months later to evaluate growth.  Eight churches grew in a variety of ways, two were stagnant, and one closed.
