Methods used combine the historical, quantitative, and pro-active approaches. This process is based on the manual written by Charles Ridley, entitled How to select church planters: a self-study manual for recruiting, screening, interviewing and evaluating qualified church planters. Research in this project focused primarily on : (1) a careful review of the written assessment reports of more than 260 candidates; (2) administration of a written survey that was completed by the candidates which focused on the progress of their church plants; (3) a follow-up telephone survey and (4) a comparison of the results of the assessed candidates with a control group of forty planters who were not assessed but attempted to plant anyway. The methodology includes correlating a series of five spiritual principles with five economic principles. Twenty African American women worked through the principles pedagogically. A qualitative participatory research method engages the principles of economic and spiritual empowerment. Pre-test, post-test, surveys, questionnaires, and evaluations were instruments used to capture critical information to evaluate the project. A case study, this thesis explores and examines a means of developing and maintaining a therapeutic alliance using womanist theology and relational cultural therapy. This project develops a practical design for how the region, a middle judicatory body, can train, empower, affirm, and motivate congregations for evangelism and church development, as the church seeks to faithfully fulfill the Great Commission.  Various approaches to evangelism and church development are explored, with evaluation of evangelistic efforts of other regions and local Disciples churches in Florida. Healing of this wound is often a long and painful journey.  An important aspect of healing involves forgiveness.  This project will provide a scriptural understanding of the God who forgives, as well as offer an overview of several texts that call God's people to both claim their forgiveness and as well as to forgive.  The process of forgiveness will be explored and then applied to the unique situation of adoptees forgiving birth mothers.  A group of ten adoptees, all of whom are people of faith, will be interviewed, providing insight into the wound of relinquishment as well as their own understanding and perspective on the process of forgiveness.
