A strategic planning team, consisting of lay personnel, was enlisted and instructed in the basic principles of strategic planning.  Utilizing these principles, theproject director led the team in developing a strategy for continuing family ministry at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church.  This strategy was designed to meet the identified family life needs of the congregation. A course in spiritual gifts and other lay and clergy-led initiatives were presented. Significant members of community were invited to participate in study and address membership. Written surveys, questionnaires, small group discussions, and observations, were used to collect data. The resulting assessment instrument was piloted at Forest Hill Baptist Church, Longview, Texas. Case studies were done using one-on-one interviews. Eight women were selected on the basis of their potential to contribute to the study. Assessment was done on the basis of their relationships with their father, the struggles they had in coming to know God as Father, and what proved helpful to them. The literature review includes research in the fields of family life, spiritual formation, the role of the father in child development, the process of healing childhood pain, and Christian education. There are biblical principles given from the scriptures and how they inform us about a relationship with God as our Father. The ultimate goal was to describe the experience of living fatherless. Participants in study were divided into four focus groups, attending nine sessions of spiritual direction using curriculum in A spiritual formation workbook by James Bryan Smith.  A self-designes questionnaire was used to measure effects of spiritual formation in the congregation. The model design consisted of a pre- and post-test survey and three workshop presentations. This action research model involved both the researcher as well as participants to effect changes in attitudes toward educational achievements. The project consisted of providing training in four transformational leadership skills to achieve clarity of direction, unity of purpose, and intensity of efforts: visioning the potential impact of the Great Commission in their ministry setting, inspiriting commitment to the vision, stimulating the intellect to discover and resolve barriers to the vision, and coaching for the implementation of the vision. A small group participated in a retreat where they learned spiritual practices, accountability, and support.  Measurements included journal entries, surveys, and observations.  When compared to a control group, those who participated scored significantly higher in all areas of spiritual growth (both individually and corporately). The purpose was to enable the state leaders to become the National Church Library Ministry team that will carry out the objectives and actions.  A survey of 796 church library directors was conducted in January, 2002 to gather up-to-date information about church libraries. The state leaders met at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee on March 12-13, 2002.  The process included ministry analysis, values discovery, environmental scan, and mission, vision, and strategy development.
