The New Testament Epistles offer a unique model of discipleship for the church as well as content for discipleship training. The project develops a paradigm from the Epistles, which it then implements and evaluates for its effectiveness. The project analyzes and seeks means to counter falling enrollment at one such school, Kobe Lutheran Bible Institute in Japan. The project distributed questionnaires from graduates and from other schools in similar settings.  Findings revealed that socioeconomic factors and failure of the school to adapt to needs of the national church were the main causes of declining support. The project constructs a program to study, evaluate, and improve the drama ministry of Saint John Lutheran Church in Sunman, Indiana. Such a chancel drama ministry is a workable model for Christian education and worship.  The project includes research interviews with church drama experts such as Alfred Edyvean, Paul Harms, and John Reed, along with an intensive reading of related literature. Psychological assessment, sociological perspective, and theological analysis are necessary to an understanding of the spirituality of African American males and their relationships to churches. Masculinity issues and anger are primary psychological factors. Societal definitions of masculinity, institutions of male socialization, and work's relationship to self-esteem are crucial sociological influences. The role of the church, anthropomorphisms in relation to images of evil, the earthly father image in relation to the heavenly father image, and the contrast of the Nation of Islam with Christian churches offer essential theological insight. It examines the life of the people of Israel during the Babylonian Exile for clues as to how we are to do ministry and how we are to live a life of faith in 'exilic' times. In examining the Babylonian Exile the project discovers the importance of rituals.
