This project presents a process to help ordained clergy deal with their grief in order to strengthen their ministry. The project's methodology involves colleagues in group therapy, responses to questionnaires, and resources and bibliographical data to find ways of support for caregivers and their grief journeys. Working within the Catholic tradition the study utilizes the Whiteheads' methodology and engages charism, general chapter, and facilitation ministry in dialogue with a 'thick description' (Browning) of a multicultural general chapter.  Evidence emerges to indicate that attentiveness to the dynamism of charism through facilitation postively influenced the general chapter's through conflict to communion. A model of spiritual transformation is developed from the work of Loder, Sobrino, and others.  Following a praxis-theory-praxis approach, it begins with a selection of metaphors taken from source material in the author's religious congregation, the Passionists.  The project subjects these metaphors to careful scrutiny with the aid of symbolic anthropology (following the work of James Hernandez) and hermeneutic philosophy (following the work of Paul Ricoeur). Questions were posed to discern if the prayer was meaningful and why (or why not) it was deemed so.  Responses to these questions are studied in light of relevant theological and pastoral care literature.  Entries from a journal written during a time of crisis are reviewed for ways in which prayer might have been voiced to meet spiritual needs. This project supposes that hell is an important topic to address from the pulpit.  The project does not address the question of who is going to hell.  Rather, it focuses on the question, What is hell?  Relevant biblical passages are considered, followed by three basic interpretations of the biblical material: hell as eternal, conscious punishment; hell as ultimate restoration (universal salvation); and hell as ultimate destruction (conditional immortality). The project presents an overview of the history of hell in preaching and a discussion of homiletical method, along with a deductive and inductive sermon on the topic. They completed personal and professional history questionnaires and were interviewed about their responses to infant death.  This project interprets the results from the viewpoint of Personal Construct Theory to develop a template--that is, a framework of questions that a pastoral caregiver may use when giving pastoral care to nurses dealing with infant death.  Two case studies are included. The project conducts a quantitative and qualitative evaluation with 30 volunteers.  Pre-test and post-test comparisons analyzed significant differences in attitude, knowledge, and behavior in program participants and a control group. The project consolidated educational classes and choir rehearsals for all ages into one night with a catered meal.  Analyzing a random sample survey, attendance records and evaluations, the author measured 0% to 44% increases in worship, choir, Sunday School and finances after ten months. Change was confirmed in both parishes, with the most significant amount in the area of general ministry.
