The Firstborn of all creation suffers today in the devastation of the planet.  To preach on the Passion a preacher requires a perspective transformation.  A perspective transformation is a form of adult learning in which people come to realize the limitations of their culturally induced and taken-for-granted world view and then take action to change it.  In a series of meetings using a method of qualitative research of a phenomenological nature, the author discovered that it is possible to facilitate a perspective transformation from mechanistic to an organicist world view. The Youth Corps (Toronto, Canada) experience was chosen as an existing operational vehicle for the research. As a qualitative study, the bias was lessened by asking predetermined questions to former team members of Youth Corps.  The results demonstrated that the team model is an effective approach to ministry.  It challenges people to work within a meaningful vision, to respond to action, and to an awareness of every person's leadership role. Local churches should be more intentional and effective in their approach to baptismal instruction.  This project involved the development of a program of baptismal instruction, including the development of a baptismal policy by the local church session, the preparation of printed materials and a seminar for parents as well as a sermon series on baptism for the congregation.  The major conclusion reached is that the model of a group seminar can be effective as a teaching device as well as a tool for assimilating people into the congregation. People associated with Mennonite churches in Winnipeg are the focus of this study. The study works with two hypotheses: first, there is domestic violence among Mennonites, and second, that people in abusive situations turn to the church for help. Participants' responses focus on the church's role in empowering older adults to create prophetic, serving, hopeful communities of peers. The research group was a random sampling of eleven American Baptist churches in the San Diego area.  A questionnaire was given to determine the believer's level of participation in, attitude towards, and understanding of the Lord's Supper.  Those in the top twenty percent and bottom twenty percent were given Pittard's Revised Commitment Test. Utilizing the Fred Craddock method of sermon preparation and delivery, and cognizant of adult learning theory, the curriculum offers students the possibility to experience for themselves preaching which is rooted in Scripture and liturgy, moves dialogically and has the capacity, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to change lives and communities.
