This purpose was accomplished by the development of an instrument which was applied in four local church settings.  The instrument contains sixteen statements related to interpersonal communication in the local parish.  Each pastor involved was to complete a self-evaluation and compare that evaluation with those completed by selective members of the congregation. Besondere Beachtung finden die Bestrebungen, den Bezugsrahmen über die kirchlichen Bereiche hinaus zu erweitern und die Öffentlichkeit über die Printmedien einzubeziehen. A large number of Lutherans were interviewed and tested as to their knowledge and attitude toward tithing and stewardship.  After an examination of the materials in terms of the historical context, with an emphasis on Luther's scholarship, conclusions were presented and a retreat was designed.
