Yet, some long established congregations find themselves in a state of decline with a community demographic that is different from the membership of the church. These congregations have not adjusted in order to reach their neighbors. Park Place Baptist Church is such a congregation. While the membership is open to the people of the community, the need exists for the church to prepare to reach the people. Group members participated in eight seminars in which they became acquainted with God's mission and the culture of their surrounding community. The Project Director developed a series of presentations as part of a forty-hour Community Service Chaplain training course to equip volunteer chaplains for ministry.  Chaplains minister to the first responders and support their work as an expression of commitment to and worship of God.
