The author conducted interviews, implemented Kevin Ford's Transforming Church Index, and developed a small group Bible study exploring these principles. The results revealed the need to develop a greater awareness of evangelism and discipleship, while focusing on elements of Celtic monastic principles already in place. The church must build upon strengths shared with the Celtic monastic communities to be more effective with evangelism and discipleship. This is God's living system. The biblical account of God's creation and new creation form the basis for understanding living system theology. The 'Expanded Jeremiah Model' (Jeremiah 29:7) provides for the church a dynamic and interactive paradigm for discovering and participating with God's living system. Repentance is necessary to be prepared to address the possibility of counterproductivity in a fallen world. A group learning exercise called 'hexagoning' is utilized as a discernment tool for Central Assembly of god Church, Boston, which allows the congregation to understand God's gracious work in the church and in the city. By crossing this border to study, reflect and pray the Psalms together participants from LaGrave Christian Reformed Church and Guiding Light Mission formed genuine Christian community. Through theological reflection on spiritual formation and research from small groups it can be said that believers who are sent to cross borders are transformed by participating with Jesus in his incarnational work of sending his followers in mission. By crossing a socio-economic gap and participating in a small group, self-awareness in participants was enhanced which led to a transformed perspective about people on the other side of the gap. An estimated 1,000 English-language congregations are serving transient people all over the world. It is imperative the international church approach disciple making with its transient nature in mind.   This study investigated the nature of effective disciple making in transient communities. Four concepts were identified. Transient churches must cultivate a disciple-making ethos. Transient churches need to maintain a transient community consciousness. Intentional movement in disciple making is absolutely critical to effectiveness. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with nine ministers from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The review of literature and analysis of the nine interviews identified three key areas which have a significant impact on a congregation's mission in their local community: the nature of the mission of the church, the leadership of the mission of the church and the practice of the mission of the church. This study concluded that these congregations should develop a fully orbed, biblical understanding of the nature of the mission of the church expressed in words and deeds. They should also develop the kind of visionary leadership which enables the congregation to face up to the reality of its changing context and make the necessary changes wh  ich will enable it to fulfill its God given mandate for mission. This report is a grounded theory research project that brings together data from surveys of 329 members of the Christian Community Development Association as well as interviews with 15 CCDA practitioners in Atlanta.
