I begin with an exploration of community and church as described by sociologists and ecclesiologists. Members of St. Andrew formed the 'Let's Connect! Team' and shared this learning and their experience of community. This team then invited our congregation to enter into a fuller understanding and experience of Christian community. Their survival and growth depended on change. The challenge before me was this: how would I get the congregation to realize a) the need to change b) why they needed to change, and c) where that change may take them? I was convinced that our challenge at Summerfield was : 'How do we dream again- how do we capture a new dream of a new community for new times?'
