The author offers an analysis of church membership decline which is linked to congregational over-dependence on the proclamation model of evangelism, and the failure to engage in relationship-based growth strategies. Considering that many churches are declining or have plateaued, this study sought to discover practical, effective strategies and techniques that have contributed to overall church growth by baptism and conversion. The author asked what these practices were, how they were taught, and how they were modeled by the leadership. The author's research preceding the case study gives a review and foundation from the early church's teaching and experience in evangelism, discipleship, missions, pastoral leadership, and church growth to the present. A closer look was given at the causes and effects of little to no obedience and commitment to the Great Commission. Chapter 1 examines the need in churches for improving Great Commission results. Chapter 2 presents the concepts of mission, vision, and strategy from a biblical perspective and focuses on effective leadership. Chapter 3 addresses the current need for mission statements and explains the process of leading churches to create them. Chapter 4 describes the five seminars that comprise the project, providing insight regarding seminar participants' responses.
