A select group of individuals were surveyed using a Likert Scale to determine their understanding of the Great Commission.  Preaching centered on the Great Commission.  Studies focused on living in obedience, the evangelism of Jesus, and on the Great Commission.  The outcome was that many individuals indicated an increased interest in sharing their faith. Yet the majority involved rejected the use of evangelism tools or participation in servant evangelism opportunities.  The best results came from a small group led by the author.  The major conclusion was that one can have a good knowledge of the Great Commission and claim an interest in sharing his/her faith. Considering that many churches are declining or have plateaued, this study sought to discover practical, effective strategies and techniques that have contributed to overall church growth by baptism and conversion. The author asked what these practices were, how they were taught, and how they were modeled by the leadership. The author's research preceding the case study gives a review and foundation from the early church's teaching and experience in evangelism, discipleship, missions, pastoral leadership, and church growth to the present. A closer look was given at the causes and effects of little to no obedience and commitment to the Great Commission. The outcome will be to have Christians observing everything that Jesus had commanded, which is the second part of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).  The project started with an examination of disciple-making disciplines and strategy-planning techniques in general.  The list resulting from this research became the basis for developing a strategy for making disciples for First Baptist Church, Wauchula.  Upon completion, the strategy was approved by church staff and the strategy-development team. The basic idea for the thesis developed as a result of class discussions on spiritual renewal and models of Christian spirituality. It also grew out of reading dynamics of the spiritual life and renewal as a way of life.  Spiritual renewal occurred in the evangelical Protestant church due to their emphasis on outward mission, the fulfillment of the Great Commission, the person and power of the Holy Spirit, and the prevailing power of prayer. Both Simpson and Bright saw the Protestant church in America and the world as impotent and in need of revival and renewal. As they emphasized evangelism and discipleship, they became effective change agents for renewal, as they were able to motivate thousands of willing workers for the task of world evangelization. The parachurch groups they started were not rivals to the existing Protestant church. Both men saw themselves as working with other likeminded evangelical Christians for the restoration and renewal of the church to a place of prominence and power throughout the world. Eventually, many of the individuals evangelized and discipled by the Christian and Missionary Alliance and Campus Crusade for Christ became involved in local churches, evangelical schools, and missionary sending agencies.
