It discusses seven commonly used strategies, 'dysfunctional habits', that provide short term success at the expense of long-term effectiveness. The author examines the interaction of the two major religious ideologies in the life of the congregation focusing on three issues or case studies during his first seven years of service as rabbi of the synagogue.
