Some stories reveal a problem of nonforgiveness among the people. Theological research reveals that though our memories will not release our hurts, there must be some sharing of God's grace and forgiveness between the members of the church. When a minister discovers a problem like nonforgiveness, there must be some constructive way to address the problem without inflaming past wounds. The thesis proposes that an indirect way to address the problem is by the use of parables in the hermeneutical process as the subject of nonforgiveness is addressed in a series of sermons."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129279362236416,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:13:11.091Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:32:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:02:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8bbb0f24-7d26-408c-8888-e467a88aadf9","accessControl_ssim":["9dda20b4-57a1-4918-aef6-877d18b800c4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["To develop and test a training model for preparing Chinese leaders in effective conflict management"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:32:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:13:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8f41aa80-2d39-4167-8fd1-b7499e93d4ea"],"hasLease_ssim":["d084c082-9cb1-41b6-aba7-dc2b9bd3d6d9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley A Nelson"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Peter Chung-Hong Kung"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations--Internal conflict"],"publisher_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Conflict management","Chinese Americans","Clergy--Training of"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop and test a training model for Chinese church leaders in the United States to use in training both Chinese-born and American-born Chinese church leaders and members for effective conflict management. Raising the unconscious to the conscious level is not viewed as optional, but mandatory. Two parish church case studies of conflict support the project's thesis, as well as a chapter devoted to the ontology of evil. Psychologically, the trinitarian image of God is found to be inadequate. God's nature is more completely symbolized within the quaternity. From the earliest times, the church has struggled with its unity as a 'body'. The twentieth century church is rocked by the growing number of schisms in many congregations. Dr. mcGahey has served one such congregation trying to pick up the pieces of a major division. Through the use of personal interviews and questionnaires, mcGahey has tried to evaluate the situation of his congregation. He has tried to build a sense of unity through a 150th anniversary celebration, to affirm the ministry of his people. The result is a reawareness of our own need to see ourselves as God's people, not our own. Through this awareness, the spiritual healing of a church begins."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127291810545664,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:41:35.613Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:05:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:36:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1208af3c-784f-4ba8-9a96-78463a04b33b","accessControl_ssim":["31ac6e77-9c08-45e7-bbde-9e8c1dae9fa7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The ministry of abandonment"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:05:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:38:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["89e48fd7-1de2-4321-b1e8-c33a7ec61b10"],"hasLease_ssim":["6ab6f786-e2c8-4e43-9dd1-8185471291f5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert L Treese"],"year_tesim":["1983"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John M Grenfell"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations--Internal conflict"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Church work","Clergy--Office","Congregations","Laity","Methodist Church","Clergy"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Journey theology details how the pastor of a local United Methodist Church led his congregation through a period of crisis and change of many kinds.
