Peter I","Secularism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author’s chief goal in this project was to produce and pilot a useful and effective resource in training believers in personal evangelism. Although he conducted the field work during COVID-19 lockdowns and disruption that goal was substantially achieved. Biblical study, theological reflection, and sociological insights formed the foundation for the author’s development of the training course. That research shaped a congregational survey regarding attitudes to personal evangelism, which in turn fed into an expert sample of ministry leaders and evangelistic trainers. In the light of these inputs the author wrote and piloted a four-week evangelistic training course. Course participant responses enabled the author to make a preliminary assessment regarding the effectiveness of the training course. The author then suggested a trajectory along which he could develop the course, and supplement it with additional support and resources. He also mapped out a ministry plan for the construction of an evangelistic ecosystem within a local church, incorporating an adapted version of the piloted course alongside additional groups and further input. Acts","Missions--Theory"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation suggests that Acts 17:16-34 is intended by Luke as a paradigm for evangelism among the biblically illiterate and seeks to identify the methodology that is set forward as a paradigm. In the first section, two arguments against seeing Acts 17:16-34 as a Lucan paradigm are examined. Chapter two examines the arguments of those who claim that this speech is in no way an example of Pauline preaching but is rather the work of Luke or some later redactor. It is argued that there are no ultimately persuasive reasons to accept this view of the reliability of the speech. Chapter three presents the ideas of those who believe that the speech was a failure on the basis of issues such as the small number of converts and insights from the early Chapters of 1 Corinthians. These commentators believe Paul later repented of the approach he took at Athens. Again the essay examines these arguments and ultimately concludes that there is no reason to see the speech as anything other than successful. Section two asks what example Acts 17:16-34 sets for readers. Commentators have differed over their understanding of what Paul is doing here. Some argue that the speech represents a work of assimilation with Greek philosophy, others a critique of Greek idolatry and other groups some combination of the two. This essay will argue for a contextualised critique methodology. This research consisted of three parts: (1) Clarification of theological views that hinder Jewish evangelism; (2) Surveys to detect the reasons why evangelism is not done; (3) Interviews with Arab leaders and one messianic pastor to gain their perspective on the reasons why Arab brothers and sisters are not evangelizing to the Jews.This project had three hypotheses:•There is a lack of Jewish Evangelism from the Arab Christians toward the Jewish people in Israel because of the difference in culture and politics.•There is a lack of Jewish Evangelism from the Arab Christians toward the Jewish people in Israel because of a lack of knowledge in how to do it.•There is a lack of evangelism from the Arab Christians toward the Jewish people in Israel because of their belief in replacement theology.The first two surveys were given to Arab Christian leaders and believers of churches from Israel. The surveys focused on their spiritual life, politics, the land of Israel, and Zionism. They ended with asking about their engagement in Jewish evangelism. I hoped to discover whether Jewish evangelism exists and if not, why.The surveys and interviews of the Arab leaders and pastors in Israel evaluated whether the hypotheses were correct and helped discover the next steps for change regarding Jewish evangelism from our Arab brothers and sisters in Israel. The surveys and interviews supported my hypotheses. Other issues that might hinder Arabs from sharing the gospel with Jews in Israel were found as well. Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project sets to implement a relational Serving Model at Gather in San Antonio, Texas, to motivate people to reach out to those within their relational circles towards the goal of being a positive influence on them by both living and sharing the Gospel. Chapter one presents the ministry context and the goals of this project. Chapter two provides an exegesis of four passages of Scripture (Matthew 5:13-16; Acts 17:26,27; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23; Ephesians 2:1-10) to show God’s plan for humanity to walk in a relationship with him. The chapter also explains that God empowers believers by his grace to serve him and calls believers to be a witness for him in both word and action. Chapter three identifies four of the most formal evangelism methods and explains how relational ways of reaching out are a seamless transition from evangelism to discipleship. Chapter four describes the project itself, describing the details of the preparation and implementation of the project. Chapter five evaluates the purpose and goals of the project. This chapter also addresses the strengths and weaknesses of the project. Chapter 1 presents the history and ministry context of Mayhill Baptist Church and the goals of this project. Chapter 2 provides exegesis of several passages of Scripture (Eph 4:11-12; Matt 28:16-20; various passages in the Gospels, Romans, and Acts; Heb 3:12-14) to show that God commands pastors to equip the saints and every saint to make disciples. Chapter 3 posits the position that for ministry effectiveness to occur, the load of evangelism is not carried only by the pastor, but by every member of the church. Chapter 4 describes the project itself, including the timing and teaching methodology along the way. Chapter 5 evaluates the success of the project based on the completion of specified goals. Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author research what difference if any, a six-week teaching on the Great Commission and an instructional program on discipleship making, will have on the thinking and behavior of the people of Faith Lutheran Church on the importance of evangelism. The author used narrative qualitative method to measure his results. The research was fruitful from the point that the correct biblical understanding, by large, changes the thinking and behavior of people. Before the teaching a majority of the participants had a limited understanding of the word 'go' in the Great Commission. They understood it as a suggestion rather than implied command to support the only command in Matthew 28:19 to 'make disciple.' Having the correct understanding shifted their thinking: going from point A - B had a greater purpose, which is to look for opportunities to 'make disciples.' Another misconception the participants was on evangelistic efforts. They had a very negative perception of what evangelism meant. The image they had was people holding 'repent or you will go to hell,' which left a bad taste in their mouth. This caused them to distance themselves from the work of the evangelist. The correct understanding of the word evangelism being a bearer of Good news, changed their thinking and behavior. The project director investigated the curriculum writing process by c0ompleteing the self-guided study, Design for Teaching and training by Leroy Ford. The project director wrote the curriculum after completing the study. An expert evaluator in the field of curriculum writing evaluated both of these steps.
