The program was drawn specifically from traditional American forms of and resources for care.  A curriculum was designed for Black pastors to use in religious education programs to help the pastors maintain and expand the extension ministries of their local church. If a parish is to grow, the total membership should be made aware of this need; and the laity should be given a chance to address themselves to this task.  In developing the project, much information came from interviews, personal experience and readings and observations in black parishes.
