Since very few helpful models or institutions are likely to be available, the church, through the local congregation, must be able to offer a viable ministry of reconciliation.  This project focuses first on an analysis of the circumstances which presently are contributing to the pain and separation. Secondly, it attempts to build a practical theology where belief and practice are mutually independent. The assumption that underlies the project is that if teachers can experience intersection between personal story, personal experience, the biblical story, and faith community experience, to tell one will be to tell the other.  As a result, the Bible will become biographical, which makes it easier to communicate.  Teaching then will be discernibly different in the church education experience.  The project was a six-week teacher education experience for mid-high teachers that utilized denominational materials as the primary resource. It begins with a historical review of initiation into the Christian Church and includes an extended section of infant baptism.  The theological stance based on covenant responsibilities and God's grace through Jesus Christ supports infant baptism.  The philosophical arguments involve how we know and communicate reality.  The experiential focus of the confirmation model contrasts with the more popular 'workbook' model. Students were evaluated by empirical observation, that involved the student, a peer, and adviser, and the discipler, and reproducibility in a second small group.  The students practiced relational skills and the spiritual disciplines of: daily prayer, Bible reading, time stewardship, group accountability and journal keeping.  The discipler served as a mentor and as a model for the disciplines. It examined the biblical terms for power and correlated these with the organizational perspectives on power.  The project design used 'The Power Management Survey' to compare perceptions.  The pastor felt motivated primarily by affiliation and friendship.  The laity felt the pastor was motivated primarily by socialized power.  A democratic leadership style was present.
