Its research developed a definition for prophetic preaching by exploring the writings of the biblical prophets. It also studied the psychological, ecclesial, and cultural factors that encourage or discourage such preaching for today's priest. Through surveys and focus group sessions, the experience of today's Church with prophetic preaching was explored. The author believes that these generations have been lured away from prophetic ministry and enticed by negative cultural influences.  The cultural influence that is having significant impact is the American culture of consumerism which has appeared in the church as prosperity preaching.  The author interviewed and surveyed the X and Y generations, researched biblical prophets and examined cultural influences.
