After research and creation, the course of study was taught over the course of one academic year. It was then evaluated for its evangelical orientation and relevance by a panel of educators and students. This project tested whether the curriculum developed could meet the OME's requirements for a course of study, be endorsed by an expert panel of Christian educators from Ontario and be found to be engaging and beneficial to a cross-section of high school students. The study focuses on African congregations in the ELCA using the Oromo Evangelical Church as a case study. Oromo migration and the Missio Dei, Ethiopia's language policy and its impacts on Oromo language, conquest and incorporation of Oromo into the Ethiopian empire, and history of the Oromo Bible translation and persecution of evangelical Christians in Ethiopia were researched.
