Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest will be surveyed through an online questionnaire and focus groups regarding their own values and practices in philanthropy and where they believe their local church should be involved in mission. The study examined combat experiences, vocational choices, depth relationships, and current ministry settings.  Results showed strong relationship between encounters with death or shattering of values and decisions to enter ministry. Results showed strong relational stability and hearing of posttraumatic stress disorder. Results indicate failure of seminaries to assist incoming students in task of integrating combat experience and religious vocation.
