Research conducted identified that other Black church studies Doctor of Ministry programs may have gaps relating to collaborative efforts between the academy and practical ministry.  A survey questionnaire was used to identify the interest in participating in such a model and the structural design for the model. The data was collected from sixty randomly selected ruling elders who answered the questionnaire.  It was discovered that there is a higher correlation between specific academic training and good performance than between life experiences and good performances.  One must not conclude that good academic training will cause outstanding elder performance. There may be a third factor influencing both.  A supplement to the study itself provides a theological framework for the raw data.
