Utilizing the equipping model, the project director equipped selected members of Covenant Baptist Church with the necessary skills to make personal spiritual intimacy practices an integral part of their relationship with God. The project director researched the field of spiritual disciplines and determined essential personal spiritual intimacy practices: Bible reading, prayer, and solitude. The project director developed a curriculum that was designed to take the selected group of church members through an equipping workshop. He evaluated the effectiveness of the workshop in addressing the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains of learning utilizing a pretest, a posttest, a self-report questionnaire, and an opportunity for reflections. The practice of these disciplines removes distractions and emphasizes the immanence and transcendence of God.  This encounter positions these leaders to apprehend, without mediation, God's idea of who they are, who they are becoming, and what they are to do in the world.
