Working with two groups of patients, the project tries both assessment methods and evaluates the results through patient surveys. The group receiving implicit assessment reports greater assistance with stress and physical recovery. Four students from Furman University participated.  The project design utilized a pre and postassessment of the students with a focused interview and three tests: the Theological School Inventory, Pastoral Counseling Response Scale, and Semantic Differential.  A didactic series on the minister as servant-shepherd was presented.  The students participated in reflection and supervision of visitation. The students developed greater awareness of themselves and ministry.
