The test group included the elders and deacons of the Peachtree City Church of Christ in Peachtree City, Georgia. The focal point of the project was an eight-week leadership class. Two measurement tools were used: the General Self-Efficacy Scale Shearer and the General Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale. Significant increases were recorded in understanding of purpose. Corresponding to this increased mission clarity were minimal elevations in self-efficacy. The author carried out projects with nurses, key partners with chaplains in patient care, to develop pathways to the sacred.
