The author describes the design and experiences related to a series of intentional worship events focused on personal, congregational, community, national, and international engagements of ecumenical and interfaith dialogue. At each level the setting is analyzed and interpreted as it relates to the specific worship opportunities. This project attempts to shift that emphasis by drawing on indigenous Hawaiian spirituality, Buddhism, and Christianity to construct a worship experience that is both spiritually and culturally relevant to the local people of Hawai'i. Process-relational theology serves as the foundation or basis under-girding the worship experience. The methodology used combines Participatory Action Research (PAR) method and praxis-reflection. Drawing on research in communication theory, levels of learning, and convergence worship theory, the project designs and tests a nine-lesson study guide for persons serving congregations consisting of worshipers from diverse backgrounds. The purpose of the project is to inform the reader of the process whereby one small town ministerial association struggled to understand its ministry, especially in shared worship.
