These include the beauty of nature, as I grew up in New Zealand; the beauty of people that I worked or worshiped with in South Africa; but also, the unexpected beauty of pain and struggle, that I experienced in Chicago IL. In each of these places, I find the Lord forming and shaping me, but also bringing healing, for the fear and anxiety which I had experienced for much of my life. The next chapter in the format of a spiritual formation manual, then explores five dimensions of spiritual formation and healing and is geared especially for believers who similarly struggle with anxiety. Paul identifies three of these dimensions in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, where he refers to the “sanctification of body, soul and spirit.” The dimensions of community (or the social dimension) and further, nature or God’s creation are also explored. My final chapter, by way of a field research report, then places further emphasis on the dimension of nature, through a spiritual practice called Scripture and Nature Immersion (SNI). A case study was made of ten New Zealand Open Brethren churches that were experiencing healthy numerical growth. This thesis tests the degrees of secularity of all New Zealand Methodist ministers by means of a questionnaire and a follow-up interview of a small representative sample.  The results show strong theological polarities, and, on average in comparison with the laity, clergy conservatism on central tenets of faith, a more liberal attitude to peripheral belief matters, and strong liberal tendencies in social and political areas. The author believes that economic debates in most Western countries do not place enough emphasis on the social objectives which any economic system should achieve. The project outlines and evaluates various economic systems in light of social objectives, and lays out a biblical basis for economic policy-making.  It documents poverty in New Zealand in a separate chapter.  The author concludes that dialogue between clergy and laity should lead to a positive contribution to public economic debate. Various aspects of the women's lives are read: the broader ANZ and Archdiocesan context in which they teach, the spiritual landscape and in particular the geographic landscape which they inhabit. Also explored are the ways in which these women read the Bible. The final chapter presents a plan of a resource to enable women to read the Bible and the landscape together for their spiritual enrichment. The method used throughout this thesis project is the three stage hermeneutical approach developed by Sandra
