The ethical culture of the church must be improved and uplifted in order to become the witness of the gospel in today's age.  Therefore, the emphasis upon ethical culture and the practice of a faithful witness are closely related. The subjects are well-functioning middle-aged persons.  They narrate their entire journey of conversion.  Throughout the case studies, the holistic theory of Lewis Rambo and the normative theories of Donald Gelpi and Walter Conn are used to analyze the process of initial and ongoing conversion. They were asked what they found to be difficult and enriching during internship. Mutual accountability, ethical responsibility, and the nature of the intern-supervisor relationship surfaced as areas of concern. Modern rabbis accept those changes, and attempt to use these new roles to establish their authority in the synagogue and community. Based on extensive interviews with Jewish Theological Seminary-trained congregational rabbis in northern California, the nature of that authority is studied.  The project concludes that rabbis utilize an 'authority of process.' Models of psychotherapy and pastoral counseling included Jung, Rogers, Oden, and Jackson. It proposes an understanding of ritual inclusive of non-traditional, newly formed, and experience-specific ritual expression.  The project data, derived from two groups, each meeting for six sessions, supports the thesis that individuals are able to fashion and enact meaningful rituals expressive of shared experience and beliefs.  Further, such ritual expression contributes to a holistic, personal and communal growth in faith. A review of the literature, with special emphasis on the spirituality of both AA and the population, tentatively concluded that adaptation was possible and advisable.  A manual was developed to introduce Hispanic pastoral agents to the tenets of AA and was piloted on a group of ten such ministers. The local church and a group of feminist women self-identified as Christian participated in preaching and worship modeled on a community-based format, and on a communal preaching/reflection format.  Data concerning changes in the participants' understandings were gathered through structured questionnaires; each participant from the local church taped an exit interview.
