Particular attention was given to the use of confession, absolution and reparation as the principal means of resolving guilt in the lives of individual church members.  The report outlines the different methods of confession, demonstrating their comparative value in terms of guilt resolution. Programs, liturgical formulations or teaching cannot replace that role that each Christian has to hear another's burden and to assure him of God's grace. This paper reviews the theology of forgiveness and especially the role of the human mediator of forgiveness. A contrast is made between current systems of counseling and Christian forgiveness.
