Six sermons preached at Clear Wather Church in Anchorage, Alaska were prepared with the help of a feed-forward group and compared to six sermons prepared without input. Listeners assessed the transformational quality of each sermon by completing a listener survey. There was no statistically significant difference in how the listeners assessed either set of sermons. In testing this proposition with four groups--those who merely attend worship, those who read the lessons before worship, those who participate in Bible study on the lessons, those who participate in a sermon critique following worship--the project finds that relationships are enhanced when church members feel that they are taken seriously as part of the sermon process.
