Employing a literature review, archival research, oral histories, and a survey questionnaire, the project uncovered a history punctuated with tensions. United Baptist patients expect evangelical pastoral support; they are satisfied with their experience of HBHC. Neither individuals nor congregations will accept a fully ecumenical chaplaincy. The project recommends that HBHC be incorporated under a board that can secure funding under its own foundation.
