When these church planters were developed through the Multiplication Network’s recommended training program, the author desired to know to what extent can the new churches that were planted could be characterized as healthy congregations, kingdom communities, and reproducing organisms? The author decided to study churches that had matured for approximately four years in order to answer this question. Starting with the total population of church planters who were trained and started new churches in 2016-2017, the author chose a random sample of them. He then surveyed and interviewed not only a percentage of those church planters, but also members of their four-year-old churches.Factors were uncovered that often stood in the way of church realizing their full potential as healthy congregations, kingdom communities, and reproducing organisms, such as: antagonistic cultural forces in wider society and in the hearts of believers, navigating expectations with mother churches, getting derailed by daily pressures, and weak commitment. On the other hand, key beliefs, attitudes, and practices were unearthed that enabled some churches to become healthy congregations, kingdom communities, and—to a lesser extent—reproducing organisms, such as: seeing the local church as a family of faith, centering the life of the church on the Bible, praying for kingdom growth, desiring that non-believers receive salvation, serving sacrificially, and developing leadership potential in others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717108416774144,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:13:03.094Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:03:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a017667b-8ace-47fb-b6ee-c98b9a3e032c","accessControl_ssim":["1f8ede1d-be0f-4600-8961-0e159ceb48a6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Indicative / Imperative Construct In Paul'S Writings As A Pastoral Tool For Spiritual Formation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:48:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7d55b7ad-f42a-48b7-8a9c-0dbb7a8af7b8"],"hasLease_ssim":["d41469f2-6dc1-4562-8467-173fb9c1c9d0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Pastoral ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Jonathan Kim Ph.D.","Mel Loucks Ph.D.","William Donahue Ph.D.","Taylor Worley Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This is particularly true when believers try to live the Christian life without an awareness of what the gospel says about their union with Christ. In this condition they become vulnerable to two grave spiritual dangers legalism and licentiousness. The Indicative / Imperative construct can bring clarity and help against the debilitating effects of these two detrimental spiritual conditions. This construct is found especially in the Pauline epistles (Eph. 4:1ff.; Rom. 12:1ff.) as the Apostle boldly declares to the recipients who they are in Christ (indicative) and then how they must live anew on the basis of this new spiritual identity (imperative). This project utilized qualitative research techniques to explore the use of the Indicative / Imperative Construct as a pastoral tool for spiritual formation. The researcher preached a series of seven sermons highlighting the Indicative / Imperative construct in the writings of Paul. A focus group of twelve participants gathered weekly following each sermon. A pre and post focus group survey was utilized along with weekly homework assignments. A group interview was conducted during the eighth and final focus group gathering. Four weeks after the final focus group meeting, each participant took part in an individual interview. A trained participant observer recorded field notes throughout each focus group session. These notes, in combination with the researcher’s observational notes, provided a multilayered data set for evaluation as the project progressed. After evaluating the data results, trends towards spiritual growth in connection with a deepening grasp of the Indicative / Imperative Construct became apparent in the lives of several project participants. There were other trends in the data that were not overwhelmingly conclusive however, the researcher learned several lessons from this project that will impact his ministry for years to come."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791124917102575616,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:03:50.916Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:58:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:01:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e3e06001-8b91-4158-be23-eb66657f7c6c","accessControl_ssim":["88016e8f-0e63-4911-b826-9c03a18c97bb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Desi Campus Ministry: Training Materials For Equipping Staff And Volunteers To Coach Local Design Movement Chapters"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:58:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:38:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["efb76ee5-6f6c-4ed1-8959-f27f1820d4af"],"hasLease_ssim":["0a3ba181-a0e4-4930-b1cc-ffcd9e39516b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Missions and evangelism"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Harold Netland Ph.D.","William Donahue Ph.D.","James Moore Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2020"],"location_tesim":["Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The purpose of this research was to gauge the effectiveness of specific training materials for equipping campus ministry workers for the ministry of Design Movement. To accomplish this, a newly written set of training materials were field tested, reviewed, and evaluated for effectiveness. Design Movement uses a contextualized approach to ministry. It is a collegiate ministry seeking to come alongside the desi, or South Asian American, community. This community includes students who are Indian American, Pakistani American, Sri Lankan American, Bangladeshi American, Nepali American, Bhutanese American, and Maldivian American. Many of these American college students have a Hindu or Muslim background, while a smaller percentage of South Asian American students have a Christian background. This major project arose from the need for more current and specific ministry training for staff and volunteers and resulted in the creation of the Design Movement Ambassador Training. The training is divided into four categories: “Learn about South Asian American Culture,” “Leverage Culture for Outreach,” “Launch and Grow a Design Movement,” and “Lead a Design Student Team.” Each category contains six modules for a total of twenty-four topics. The study revealed that the training materials were successful in being able to equip campus ministers to effectively come alongside the desi community. The five Cru staff who participated in a focus group grew in their understanding about this contextualized ministry. The feedback from the five staff and four Consultants provided suggestions for minor improvements to the materials, including a few additional modules. Training materials specific to Design Movement proved helpful for meeting the needs of coaching students in Design Movement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720160237453312,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:01:33.537Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
