Through the lens of appreciative inquiry and employing critical reflection, it discerns best practices in training youth ministry leaders in the Roman Catholic Church in the United States and the underlying assumptions and values of such practices. Using relevant Church documents and transformative learning theory in dialogue with these practices and assumptions the author proposes the promotion of a ministerial habitus. In contrast to the Roman Catholic Church's teaching of complementarity--which designates gender-assigned gifts--the synergistic dynamic of mutuality was examined through philosophical, ethical, and anthropological lenses. Three contemporary pairs were interviewed, and three historical pairs were studied, specifically Francis and Clare of Assisi, Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal, Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin. The diminishing zeal and the passion of the Salesian missionaries prompt me to ask the question 'can the Salesians be more spiritual and sensitive to the Nyishis and their tribal culture so as to incarnate Don Bosco's spirituality and charism in the communities they minister?' Many people have been seeking the Christian faith after obtaining religious freedom.  In today's China, thousands of people receive baptism without proper instruction about Church teaching and practice.  As a result, only a small number remain faithful to their baptismal commitment.  In considering today's new situation, I conducted interviews with catechists who have had experience working on this program in the diocese.  I think the Catholic Church in China faces two critical issues: 1) inadequate preparation for those who wish to be baptized, and 2) inadequate ongoing faith formation and communal support for those who have been baptized... Drawing from the U.S.C.C.B. document Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, the author has created a program of spiritual formation for parish lay volunteers. Mexicans in particular share their practices with the larger Catholic community.  This challenges congregations and preachers as they attempt to minister to this ever growing population. The author begins with an exploration of the current wave of immigration, comparing and contrasting it with past immigration history. Learning to adapt, to adjust, and striving to achieve and to survive, in America, they are American citizens but no 'Americans.' In Vietnam, they are Vietnamese but not Vietnam's citizens. This exilic experience of Vietnamese American Catholics needs to be addressed in preaching. The Hebrews' exilic experience is helpful for Vietnamese Americans to voice their felt loss. They desire a friendly, faith filled community that has an affirming and welcoming pastoral staff. The project methodology uses exploratory questions for the self-administered questionnaire, focus groups and personal interviews. The data analysis of the variables resulted in the following conclusions: 96% of the returnees actively search for a parish; they want a pastor who preaches and prays well; they want to be involved in ministry both within and beyond the parish. In examining the culture of diocesan priests in the US since 1965, the project finds two dominant identity metaphors--priest-as-mediator and priest-as-minister--and traces their historical roots through a series of 'flash points.' A systematic understanding of priestly spirituality emerges from study of five spiritual practices--attention to oneself, public and private use of psalms, preaching, collaboration, relationship to structures--that are examined in relation to each
