The project director researched resources in the field of mentoring and youth culture and developed an annotated bibliography and a curriculum with the help of experts in the field of education. The director created the training curriculum used in a seven-session workshop with a selected group of adults who volunteered to serve as mentors at the request of student mentees. The curriculum for the workshop was developed with the guidance of professionals in the area of curriculum and instructional design. Phenomenological and qualitative research methodology formed the framework of study, guided by perspectives of grounded research and symbolic interactionism.  Results identify principles for the development of this intergenerational group. The dissertation begins with a section on the theology and 'theory' of worship. The project is designed to help local congregations formulate their own programs, using the characteristics in respect to their individual members.  Specific programs are not a part of this study.  The list of characteristics was derived from readings about the two ages, reflections on personal experiences, and interviews with older and younger persons.
