There are three sections to the work: a comprehensive study of conversion from the biblical material through current history to the present; a consideration of the contextualization of the message of the good news within the Australian scene; and a field study questionnaire and in-depth interviews of the clergy within the diocese.  As a result of this study it was found that the ethos of the clergy is more diverse than at first thought and that a broader definition of conversion needed to be considered. It includes a discussion of how the lectionary has been adapted by various denominations throughout the world.  The study examines the lectionary's pre-suppositions and principles of composition.  It compares and analyzes the form of the Three Year Lectionary in An Australian Prayer Book (1978) and the Alternative Tables of Lessons (1985). The text includes the results of an Australian Anglican use of the lectionary. Some reference is made to the Australian context in which the BCP is used.  Revision of the collects is assisted by theological and linguistic criticism.
